Finance Executive

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

  • Maintain daily bank balances and payment listings.

  • Process payments, including vendor invoices, staff claims, and refunds.

  • Oversee inter-company transactions and ensure accurate allocation of deferred revenue.

  • Liaise with operational teams on fee collection and reconciliation matters.

  • Maintain full set of accounts and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Work closely with the Operations team to support financial planning, cost monitoring, and business performance.

Month-end and Year-end Close

  • Review the accuracy of monthly reports prepared by the external accountant.

  • Perform monthly variance analysis, highlight trends, and provide recommendations.

  • Prepare monthly closing schedules for balance sheet items and perform monthly inter-company reconciliations.

  • Assist in reconciling and resolving discrepancies in financial statements.

  • Prepare detailed budgets and forecasts, including monthly budget variance analysis with actionable recommendations.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and statutory requirements.

  • Prepare and assist with annual budgeting activities.

  • Ensure timely compliance with all Malaysia statutory requirements, including Annual General Meetings (AGM), Annual Return submissions, corporate tax filings, and other statutory obligations.

  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities to facilitate audits, tax submissions, and statutory compliance.

Ad-hoc Projects and Administration

  • Manage ad-hoc financial projects such as software implementation or process automation.

  • Provide administrative support as needed, ensuring smooth coordination across teams.

  • Utilise financial software (e.g., Xero) for daily operations, ensuring accuracy and system integrity.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Curate and present monthly financial data to senior management, facilitating strategic discussions and decision-making.

  • Chair and present monthly financial review meetings, providing financial insights, variance analysis, and recommendations.

  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and other consultants to facilitate smooth financial processes and audits.

  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities and institutions on compliance-related matters where required.

  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to streamline financial processes and enhance organisational efficiency.

  • Partner closely with the General Manager and Directors by providing financial analysis, strategic insights, and support for business planning and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent).

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting or reporting.

  • Hands-on experience managing a full set of accounts.

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and applicable accounting standards.

  • Good knowledge of Malaysia statutory compliance, including AGM, Annual Return, corporate tax, and statutory filing requirements.

  • Experience liaising with external auditors, tax agents, and company secretaries.

  • Experience using Xero accounting software is preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides.

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

  • Strong team player.

  • Regional finance exposure across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and/or Hong Kong will be an added advantage.

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
